The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit is investigating the death of a 7-week-old baby who died following an incident at a Livermore Falls home involving a family dog.

Police say the incident happened last Thursday, Oct. 15, and there’s currently no indication the infant’s death is suspicious.

State police say it’s standard procedure to investigate the deaths of children who are younger than 3 years old.

They say the investigation is active and ongoing. State police said Monday that no additional details are being released at this time.
