A fire at a Lewiston apartment building Thursday afternoon left five people displaced.

The fire broke out just before 4:30 p.m. at a two-story building in the 80s block on College Street.

The building is owned by Hope House.

The fire department said crews could see the smoke from the fire a few blocks away and arrived to find flames on the first floor.

The majority of the fire was put out in about ten minutes and there were no injuries.

One person was evaluated and treated at the scene.

Hope House says it’s sheltering the families, who lost everything in the fire.

The cause is under investigation.
