75 yr old Woman Dead After Being Hit by Vehicle in Portland

A 75-year-old woman is dead after being hit by a car while crossing a street in Portland.

Police say the woman was crossing Franklin Street at Marginal Way around 7:10 p.m. on Thursday when she was hit by a vehicle, driven by a 48-year-old Portland man.

Several witnesses told police the woman had been running with other people, and they all crossed the street against the signal at the time she was hit.

The woman suffered life-threatening injuries and died after being taken to Maine Medical Center.

Her name has not yet been released, and no charges have been filed so far.
