Black bear relocated after wandering through Portland’s Old Port

Police and Maine Game Wardens helped relocate a black bear that was spotted Friday morning in Portland.

Police responded to reports of a young black bear near York Street, which made its way into the parking garage under the Portland Harbor Hotel.

Game Wardens and state wildlife biologists responded, tranquilizing the animal and releasing it back into the wild.

Police said they appreciated the cooperation from residents in helping keep the public and the bear safe.
