An inmate is being blamed for a bomb threat targeting the Cumberland County Jail.

The sheriff’s office says the Portland Press Herald reportedly received the initial call of a bomb threat at the jail Wednesday afternoon.

Within minutes, staff determined that the call was made by Benjamin Steven Tinker, who’s been in custody at the jail since August on charges of arson, criminal mischief, and criminal threatening.

The sheriff’s office says it’s investigating the threat as a criminal matter.
