A 5-year-old boy was killed in a crash Thursday night in Hancock County.

The crash happened around 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of Routes 9 and 193 in Township 22, which is just north of Franklin.

Maine State Police say 33-year-old Dion Campbell of Indiana appeared to run through an intersection before striking an embankment.

First responders found the boy’s 5-year-old son in deteriorating condition in the front passenger seat.

The boy died at the scene despite lifesaving attempts.

Campbell and his 10-month-old daughter were hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators say both children were not properly restrained at the time of the crash.

The crash is still under investigation.
