Divers recovered human remains in the water at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery.

The remains were discovered Wednesday morning by divers who were doing routine barge inspections near a dry dock.

Maine State Police and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service are investigating.

The body was being brought to the Maine Medical Examiner to determine a cause and manner of death.

Authorities say there’s no danger to the public.
