The state Fire Marshal is investigating a wildfire that burned about three acres in Dover Foxcroft Wednesday.
The fire was discovered around 7:45 a.m. by a Public Works crew on Gravel Pit Road.
Firefighters say about 14 departments assisted with the fire, which is believed to have started in a brush pile that likely ignited overnight and spread to nearby woods.
They say heavy equipment from the Public Works Department was used to help contain and extinguish the flames.
Two firefighters were evaluated for heat exhaustion as Crews worked in extremely hot conditions.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
