The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what turned out to be a fictitious active shooter at Bonney Eagle High School in Standish.

They say a 911 call reporting an active shooter situation just before noon on Wednesday brought a large presence of several law enforcement agencies.

Deputies are crediting the diligent efforts of Emergency Communications Officers to determine that the emergency call was unfounded.

They say they continued to investigate as a precautionary measure and confirmed there was no threat to students, staff, or the public.

Additional details will be released as they become available.
