Holden man recently released into supervised custody dies

A Holden man who was serving a six-year sentence died after being released from Mountain View Correctional Facility.

Eugene Caston was recently released from the jail to supervised community confinement.

The Maine Department of Corrections says the 63-year-old died Saturday morning but no other details about the death have been released.

The Attorney General and state medical examiner’s office were notified, which is required by department policy.

Caston was sentenced for trafficking and firearm possession in 2024.
