A Knox woman is charged with arson and attempted murder for allegedly setting fire to a home where she was staying temporarily.

The Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office deemed the fire at a home on Bailey Road on Monday suspicious, leading to the arrest of 41-year-old Jessica Allsop.

The occupants of the home were able to put out the flames before crews arrived and there were no serious injuries.

Allsop was also charged with violating release conditions and is being held without bail at Waldo County Jail.
