Lone Pine Brewing Company won a gold medal at the 2023 World Beer Cup for their ‘Imperial Maple Sunday’ beer.

The Imperial Maple Sunday beer is a brown ale beer created to taste like a pancake, including a hint of maple syrup from Merrifield Farm in Gorham.

The Olympics of Beer is a global competition with over 2,300 breweries from 51 countries that entered. According to the Portland Press Herald, more than 10,000 beers were reviewed by judges. This is the first-year Lone Pine has won a gold medal in an international competition.

In a nationwide competition called The Great American Beer Festival, Lone Pine received a gold medal in 2020 and, received a bronze medal in 2019.

“We worked really hard to perform well on that stage; it’s an honor to have all the hard work validated in such an exciting way,” said Lone Pine co-founder Thomas Madden.

With summer just around the corner, Lone Pine just opened its third location in Old Orchard Beach at 32 East Grand Ave. There other two sites are in Portland and Gorham.
