Cumberland County deputies are investigating what turned out to be fake threat at Lake Region High School Friday morning.
Deputies say they were informed about an anonymous call to the school reporting an individual in the parking lot armed with a rifle.
They say numerous law enforcement agencies conducted a thorough search of the school grounds and confirmed that there was no threat to students or staff and the initial report was unfounded.
The Lake Region High School was placed in Lock Down for approximately a half hour as a precautionary measure and then resumed normal operations.
Deputies say they were first alerted about the call at roughly 7:30 am and subsequently synched up response operations with the Lake Region High School Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer

Police are investigating an incident at Lake Region High School, with the campus now placed on lockdown
The superintendent’s office for Maine School Administrative District 61 confirmed the school was on lockdown.
No additional details about the nature of the incident have been released.
Lake Region High School is part of MSAD 61, which primarily serves the towns of Bridgton, Casco, and Naples.
It’s not clear what prompted the response or how long the lockdown will remain in place.
