Machias Police Officer Gets Lifesaving Award For Quick Response

Machias Police Department

Machias Police Officer Jim Frauenhoffer is being honored for his quick response in assisting an unresponsive man this month.

Frauenhoffer received the Lifesaving Award at the Machias Select Board meeting after being credited with delivering CPR in crucial moments after arriving within two minutes to a call of an unresponsive man.

Machias Police say the man was stabilized and taken to a hospital when he otherwise would have died at the scene.

The Maine Monitor reports the man survived for about a week, giving his family time to say goodbye before he died.

Frauenhoffer was given the Lifesaving Award last Wednesday by Machias Police Chief Keith Mercier after performing the life-saving measure on December 5th.
