Maine Man Dies in New Hampshire Lake

Center Ossipee Fire Rescue - Waterville man Drowning


A 45-year-old Maine man is dead after drowning in Freedom, New Hampshire over the weekend.

New Hampshire State Police say Shawn Meader of Waterville was pulled from Ossipee Lake in Freedom overnight Saturday morning.

They say a dive rescue team recovered Meader from an area where he was last seen going under water and , despite life-saving measures, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

New Hampshire State Police say Meader’s death is not believed to be suspicious, and the exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
