Auburn Police do not suspect foul play was involved after a dead body was found floating in Lake Auburn Wednesday morning.

Officers say police and the Auburn Fire Department were called to area of 166 Lake Shore Drive following a report of a body observed floating in the water by a passing driver.

Auburn Fire/Rescue personnel deployed a rescue boat from the Route 4 boat launch and successfully recovered the body, which is believed to be a 46-year-old Auburn man.

The man’s identity is not being released until relatives have been notified of his death.

The body was taken to a local funeral home, where the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an examination to determine the cause and manner of death.

Auburn Police say an investigation is still active, although no foul play is suspected.
