State officials say a toddler who was found unresponsive in Milford a few days after Christmas died of hypothermia.

The Bangor Daily News reports that a medical examiner spokesperson confirmed Friday that 1-year-old Eleanora Ray McLaughlin died of hypothermia when she was found at a home on Dec. 28, 2025.

The manner of death was ruled an accident.

Public Safety Spokesperson Shannon Moss says the death is still under investigation, as required by state law for the deaths of all children 3 years old and younger.

Eleanora’s mother Erika Dupuis previously said she was frustrated with the lack of details about the investigation and has been waiting for answers since December.

The toddler was living with three siblings at the home of Dupuis’ estranged husband when she died.
