A man was arrested after a more than 15-hour standoff in Whitefield.

It began after police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a home on Heath Road Sunday night.

When police arrived, they say the suspect was seen in the home walking around with a rifle and would not answer the door.

According to CBS 13, the man was identified as 42-year-old as Jacob Walmer, who lived in the home with his girlfriend.

After several hours, police say a woman called saying she was not being allowed to leave and Walmer had threatened to shoot her.

A short time later, the woman was able to escape the home and run to safety.

The standoff lasted until 11:15 a.m. on Monday when Walmer was arrested and taken into custody with minor injuries.

He faces a long list of charges and was being held Monday at Two Bridges Jail in Wiscasset on $10,000 bail.
