Man found safe after going missing from Androscoggin County assisted living center

UPDATE: Police said Monday afternoon that Ryder was found safe and has been returned to Fern Cottage.

Androscoggin County deputies are looking for a 27-year-old missing man who left an assisted living facility in Leeds with an unknown friend.

Deputies say Owen Ryder left Fern Cottage, and the direction of the vehicle he was in and the destination are not known.

Ryder is a ward of the state under the guardianship of the Maine DHHS, and deputies say he is not believed to be in immediate danger at this time.

Ryder is 5-foot-6, 130 pounds with brown hair and gray eyes.
