One person was taken into custody after crashing their car in a parking lot in Portland’s Old Port following a pursuit.
Jace Murphy, 28, is accused of leading police on a chase Sunday night that ended when they crashed in a parking lot in Portland Square.
The chase started on Deering Avenue around 8 p.m. when a caller reported a white sedan speeding toward Mellen St. after a crash.
An officer tried to stop the vehicle but called off the pursuit in the Old Port over safety concerns.
Murph allegedly fled on foot after the car caught fire and was later taken into custody.
They face several charges including refusing to submit to arrest, driving to endanger, and having an outstanding warrant.
