Governor Janet Mills could announce her campaign for the U.S. Senate as early as next week.

Axios reports a source says the announcement will certainly happen this month, which is earlier than Mills’ statement she would make a decision by November.

Mills is term limited as Governor.

She would join a Democratic primary that includes oysterman Graham Platner, who has already gained national attention and raised $3 million. Maine Beer company owner Dan Kleban and former congressional staffer Jordan Wood are also in the race.

Incumbent Republican Senator Susan Collins has said she’ll seek another term.
