Belfast Mobile Home Fire - Maine State Fire Marshal's Office

One person and two dogs are dead from a mobile home fire in Belfast.

The Belfast Fire Department says they were called to the fire at 142 Back Searsport Road just after 2:30 pm Friday.

They say they arrived to find heavy fire conditions at the mobile home, and found the dead person during efforts to suppress the fire.

A team of State Fire Marshal investigators were called to the scene to determine the origin and cause of the fire.

The investigators say the fire started at a rear porch that contained a laundry area. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The person who died was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, where an examination will be conducted to confirm the individual’s identity and determine the cause of death.

The Belfast Fire Department  says two dogs also died in the fire.
