Pedestrian-involved crash in Portland leaves Connecticut woman dead

A Connecticut woman was killed when she was struck by a car Wednesday night in Portland.

Portland police say the crash happened around 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Franklin and Congress Streets. 66-year-old Cynthia Karst of Ridgefield, Connecticut, was crossing the intersection on foot when she was hit by a car. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

No charges have been filed against the driver, a 36-year-old man from Portland.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact Portland police.
