There were no injuries, but a home was struck by gunfire during a drive-by shooting in Auburn over the weekend.

Auburn police say a homeowner on Pownal Road reported the sound of gunshots Saturday evening and discovered two bullet holes in the living room window and wall.

After reviewing video recordings from nearby homes, police say they don’t believe the shooting was a targeted act and that it was “a reckless and isolated discharge of a firearm from a passing vehicle.”

In a statement, Auburn Police Chief Jason Moen said “Auburn is a safe community, and we intend to keep it that way. Incidents like this are rare, and when they do occur, our officers respond quickly, thoroughly, and professionally.”

Auburn police are asking anyone with information about a dark-colored pickup truck seen in the area around 7:45 p.m. Saturday to contact Detective Dennis Matthews at (207) 333-6650 ext. 2059.
