Police respond to two standoffs related to domestic violence in Westbrook

Police in Westbrook responded to two standoffs within 24 hours.

Police say a 41-year-old man was taken into custody Friday morning in Hamlet Park after a standoff related to a domestic violence incident.

The victim in that incident was able to get out safely.

A second standoff happened Saturday morning on Myrtle Street following another report of domestic violence.

Police said the suspect had barricaded himself in a bathroom with a knife.

He was taken into custody after an hour-long standoff.

The names of both suspects have not yet been released.
