Poll Finds Platner Leading Collins in Maine Senate Race

A new poll is show Democratic challenger Graham Platner leading incumbent Republican Senator Susan Collins in the general election for Senate.

The Pan Atlantic poll Platner with 48 percent support compared to 41 percent for Collins.

The lead for Platner was outside the poll’s margin of error of 3.7 percentage points

Platner has a wide lead (56%-36%) in the more liberal leading 1st Congressional District, while Collins has a more narrow edge (45%-41%) in the conservative leaning 2nd District.

Collins is running unopposed in the election, while Platner became the presumptive Democratic nominee after Governor Janet Mills suspended her campaign.

Collins has a slight lead (47%-44%) among men while Platner has a wide lead with women (53%-34%)

Support by education also shows a divide. Collins has a slight edge among people with less than a four-year degree (44%-43%), while Platner has a large lead among those with a four-year degree (56%-36%)

The poll surveyed 827 “likely voters.”
