Portland Farmer’s Market Outdoor Season Starts Saturday

Portland Farmer's Market

The Portland Farmers’ Market kicks off its season Saturday at Deering Oaks Park.

More than two dozen vendors will have booths, including Good Shepherd and Hallowell Harvest farms.

This Saturday’s market features an Earth Day event with environmental groups, along with live music and food trucks.

The Portland Farmers’ Market will be open Saturdays and Wednesdays between 7 am and 1 pm through November.

Market organizers are once again matching purchases made through SNAP and EBT.

The Portland Farmers’ Market dates tracks its history back to 1768 when the town voted to establish a public market.

The market moved to Hay Market Square, which is now Monument Square, where there were market stalls set up in 1805.

Saturday’s Earth Day celebration is a partnership with the city of Portland and will be held from 11am – 2pm by the bandstand in Deering Oaks Park.
