Sen. Susan Collins is voicing concerns after the firing of the U.S. CDC Director.

Susan Monarez was ousted by the Trump administration this week, just four weeks after her confirmation.

In comments to the media on Thursday, Sen. Collins said she was “extremely alarmed” by the firing, and said the move is “highly significant.”

She went on to say that Kennedy made a “bad mistake” when all 17 members of the U.S. CDC’s immunization advisory committee were removed back in June.

Sen. Collins voted to confirm Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who reportedly clashed with Monarez over vaccine policy.
