SKOWHEGAN, Maine — A weekend traffic stop in Skowhegan led to the arrest of three individuals after Somerset County deputies discovered a significant cache of illicit drugs, including nearly 92 grams of fentanyl.

The incident unfolded around 9:00 PM on Saturday, May 30, when police pulled over a vehicle traveling on Middle Road. According to authorities, the initial reason for the stop was a missing registration plate and a loud exhaust system.

The situation quickly escalated when a police K-9 was deployed at the scene. The dog alerted officers to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle, prompting a full search.

During the search, deputies uncovered a substantial amount of drugs and processing materials:

  • 91.83 grams of fentanyl

  • 27.37 grams of cocaine

  • 54.06 grams of a cutting substance (used to dilute pure drugs)

Following the discovery, police took three people into custody:

  • Sadie MacDonald, 30, of Fairfield: Charged with aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs and unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.

  • Louis Lopez, 51: Charged with aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs, unlawful possession of scheduled drugs, and unsworn falsification.

  • Michael Griffin, 38, of Farmingdale: Charged with operating after license suspension, failure to provide proof of insurance, and operating a vehicle without a valid inspection sticker.
