The UMaine system announced on Friday that they’re requiring unvaccinated students and employees to participate in COVID-19 testing this fall.

According to the Portland Press Herald, students who verify their fully vaccinated status by Aug. 20 will be exempt from testing. Those unvaccinated are required to quarantine while waiting for their test results, and they are required to be masked in all university buildings.

UMaine schools are expecting to require vaccinations once they receive regular FDA approval. The system will recognize and respect those individuals that are are not able to be vaccinated, however, they will still be required to wear face coverings.
