Maine’s largest union representing state workers is filing a complaint against the governor’s administration, accusing them of negotiating a new contract in bad faith.

The Maine Service Employees Association, Local 1989 of the Service Employees International Union said Monday it filed a labor complaint accusing the Mills administration of multiple violations of state law.

They claim the administration prematurely declared an impasse and engaged in behavior to “frustrate the collective bargaining process.”

The union representing about 10,000 workers also accused the administration of regressive bargaining and cancelling bargaining sessions

They’re asking the Maine Labor Relations Board to order management to withdraw a declaration of impasse and cease and desist from bad faith bargaining.

The Mills administration has not yet responded to the allegations.
