Victim identified in fatal Portland hit-and-run

We’re learning the name of the person who died in a hit-and-run in Portland last week.

Portland Police say Nichele Roakes, 57, of Portland died on Aug. 24 near 1837 Forest Avenue when she was struck by a vehicle.

Investigators say the driver took off in a dark-colored pickup that was last seen heading inbound on Forest Avenue.

Officers conducted a crash reconstruction as they investigate the circumstances leading up to the crash and look to identify the driver.

Anyone with information, including witnesses or residents with surveillance cameras that may have recorded the crash, is asked to contact Portland Police.

No other details about the investigation have been released.
