An 86-year-old man is now being identified as the victim who died in a fire more than a week ago in the Downeast town of Mettybemps.

The state medical examiner is positively identifying Vincent Dineen as the person whose remains were found more than three hours after crews were sent to a home on Main Street.

More than half a dozen fire departments were sent to the large fire, which had spread to a vehicle in the home’s driveway.

The fire marshal says the cause of the fire is still unknown due to the extensive damage from the blaze, which occurred back on Sunday, November 16th.
