The new Ticonic Bridge between Waterville and Winslow will close down next month for a week for construction.
MaineDOT says the activity will require full access to the bridge, which carries Route 201 over the Kennebec River.
The closure is part of the $53 million project to completely replace the Ticonic Bridge, which has portions that date back 110 years.
The full project won’t be completed until May of next year.
The current new structure has been open to eastbound and pedestrian traffic, while westbound traffic has been detoured over the Carter Memorial Bridge since the project began in November 2024.
On March 9, eastbound vehicle traffic will be detoured south via the Carter Memorial Bridge, and pedestrian traffic will be detoured north via the Two Cent Bridge.
Eastbound and pedestrian traffic will again have access to the new span on March 16.

The bridge will open for both eastbound and westbound traffic in May, with construction being fully complete in May 2027.
