A 36-year-old Portland man faces felony charges in a Westbrook shooting and assault over the weekend.

Westbrook Police say they were sent to a disturbance and gunshots fired call at 156 Bridgton Road Saturday morning.

Officers say they detained a group of people outside the residence, including Shuceyb Hersi, who was determined to be a suspect.

Police say they found a person who’d been shot in both legs and a person who’d been assaulted inside, who were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

They say they remained on scene for several hours processing the scene and investigating the crime before arresting Hersi.

He’s now charged with Elevated Aggravated Assault, 2 counts of Aggravated Assault, and Reckless Conduct. Hersi was taken to the Cumberland County Jail.

Officers say an investigation into the incident is ongoing, and anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Westbrook Police Department. They say it appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the public.
