Essential Holiday Horror Part 1
Essential Holiday Horror Part 1

I spent all of November watching Cheesy Xmas Romance and it was basically torture.. so this month I’m ~cleansing my palate~ with my favorite subgenre: Holiday Horror.

Here’s my first FIVE days of Holiday Horror for your reading/viewing pleasure.

Day 1: Jack Frost
Streaming on: SHUDDER
SCARES: D-
FUN: A
A serial killer turns into an EVIL MURDERING SNOWMAN. So bad. So good. So 90’s.
Day 2: Day of the Beast
Streaming on: SHUDDER & TUBI
SCARES: C
FUN: C
A priest, a metalhead, & an occultist team up to stop the apocalypse on xmas eve. Despite the promising premise.. this was lowkey boring until the last 30 mins or so.
Day 3: The Advent Calendar
Streaming on: SHUDDER
SCARES: C
FUN: A
Eva receives a strange advent calendar as a gift and ~spookiness~ happens. Not traditionally scary & a little confusing at times BUT super fun nonetheless. A great addition to the massive xmas horror catalogue on Shudder
Day 4: Pooka!
Streaming on: HULU
SCARES: B
FUN: A
AHH had to include this one since it’s one of my favorites. A man starts to lose his mind after taking a job as the mascot for the xmas season’s hottest toy: Pooka! The design for Pooka itself is scary enough. Watch this & prepare to be mildly confused for most of the movie.
Day 5: Await Further Instructions
Streaming on: NETFLIX
SCARES: A
FUN: A
A family is trapped inside on xmas & begin receiving mysterious instructions thru the tv. This was suuuper stressful & fun to watch! It’s more on the sci-fi end of the horror spectrum if that’s your thing
Only 25 more to go! Here’s the timeline I’m following:
