I am the youngest of 7 kids, so my Mom had me very late in life.  Even though I’m still young, my Mom is 87.  I think she was like… close to 50 when I was born.  ANYWAY, this weekend, I put her behind the wheel for the first time in years.  People just started driving her places instead of her doing it for herself.  Even though that was very nice of them, they didn’t realize that they were taking that away from her.  It happens for older people.  The ones that love them start doing the cooking, cleaning, etc. and they lose their ability subtly and without warning.  So, when I put her behind the wheel, she was a little surprised, but had a blast!  I immediately got calls from my other siblings after I posted this picture on Facebook telling me that I was crazy!

Here’s the thing;  My Mom was super happy and hey, if we crash, we crash.  I’ll be a great story.  Truth be told, I had her go very, very slooowly only around a parking lot.  As a matter of fact, she didn’t take her foot off the brake and that made us both feel safer.  I’m sure I’ll bring her driving again and don’t worry, it wont’ be on any public roadway.  (that you know of anyway.)
