- Kyle Smith of the New York Post recently wrote an article that women “are not capable of understanding the movie, Goodfellas.”
- Radio Insider, Keith Hill recently said “If you want to make ratings in country radio, take females out.”
- There are so many other examples I could cite from famous women in Hollywood expressing their frustration with sexism. Meryl Streep, Angelina Jolie, Sandra Bullock just to name a few who have recently spoken up.
Taking off our shirts to call attention to gender inequality, for me, is not the way to go. Free the nipple if you must, but you will be upsetting a lot of people and probably not making much headway with the bottom line you are trying to call attention to. Instead, why not speak up when you see or hear of inequality, every time, no matter what the consequence. Women, and I know I’m generalizing here, are not good at that. We are peace keepers and generally want everyone to get along, but the more we speak up, the more we will be heard. Other women, this one included, will support you! Let’s face it, if we take off our shirts, they won’t listen. It will just give them more ammunition. So, keep your shirts on, remember gravity is not our friend and just speak up!
